Well it's happening

After almost 5 and a half years this guy:

And this girl:
are going to be living n the SAME CITY! Not only that, we will be living TOGETHER! It's true. I am still in shock but in the past few weeks my life has had some major changes. I was offered a too good to be true job (but is really is true!) in Washington DC!

After traveling back and forth to DC for interviews I got the great news a couple weeks ago. Louie and I celebrated and then panic set in. I had 3 weeks to uproot my life. Louie currently lives with two other guys and he was ready to move out, so we started looking, and are still looking for the first home we will share together.

I put in my two weeks notice at work and couldn't be happier to only have a handful of days left. I am very nervous, excited, anxious, sad and thrilled. I know this is the right step for Louie and I but it doesn't make it any easier to leave my family and friends. With that being said, I know I can do it and am looking forward to TONS of visitors and trips home!

This change definitely gives me more motivation to document our ever changing lives and the lessons we learn along the way. I will keep you posted on all the ins and outs of this wacky journey!

Sweet Tooth

I have a MAJOR sweet tooth this summer so I thought what better way (other than eating a dozen cupcakes) to satisfy those cravings than sharing some of my recent baking endeavors. A lot of my baking is for special occasions, mainly parties revolving around my niece and nephew. I have so much fun making these desserts and it's always nice to see the excitement on the kids faces. I also have to give credit to Louie because often is my partner in crime!

This is the cake I did for Addie's 4th birthday. She had A LOT of ideas for her party but we couldn't quite nail down just one. So, we did a rainbow/animal party. We had a petting zoo and then tied in rainbows with the decorations. This cake was so fun and easy to make. I love the way it turned out. A 6 layer cake with a rainbow of colors when cut was a special surprise for the kids!
I made this fruit tart for a royal wedding party I went to celebrating the nuptials of William and Kate. This is my best interpretation of "Union Jack"!
Cinderella was the center piece for Addie's 3rd birthday party. This cake was pretty large and very interesting to decorate. This was my first big cake project, I was nervous but with the help of my assistant (Louie) I think it turned out pretty cute and Addison couldn't wait to get her hands on the Barbie inside.
I had originally planned on doing a cookie monster cake for Parker's 1st birthday party which was a Milk and Cookie's theme but at the last minute we decided to throw in a little Dr. Seuss with the classic Dr. S hat since Parker and I were both born on Dr. Seuss's birthday. So, instead we did the cookie monster cake for a local cake walk that was also having a competition for most creative cakes. And guess what...Louie and I won! We still need to use our prize, which was a gift card to Graeter's yummm!
There is nothing too creative about this picture but the sheer volume of cupcakes that were made for Paker's "sip and see'' or Cupcake's and Cocktail's party was something worth noting. It was non stop baking, icing, baking icing, tasting, baking, icing until the time the party started. SO much fun and I highly suggest doing this type of party for the new mommies in your life.

This last one is silly but I have to tell you about one of my favorite gadgets. I received The Perfect Brownie Pan for Christmas last year and I L.O.V.E. it. I make brownies a lot because they are my Dad and brother in law's favorite dessert, and this little contraption makes it so easy and truly make the most perfect, thick, cakey, yummy brownies! It's a must try!

There you have it... just some of the baking I've done as of late. I wish I had a picture of Parker's Dr. Seuss hat cake but can't seem to find it. If I come across it I will update. Overall, it's a fun hobby and I always love an excuse to eat something sweet!

There's a first time for everything...

Well, here we go! I have been a HUGE fan of blogs for a very long time now. I can't even tell you how many blogs I have in my reader and keep up with weekly. I have been getting some pressure for a few months (or a year) from other bloggers and IRL friends, Lindsey and Aly, and I'm not going to lie, I was a little intimidated to start! So, bare with me as I bare it all!

Let me introduce you to some people you will most likely see on this little blog of mine.

This is yours truly! Typically you won't find me looking quite this put together, but let's face it, I'm not going to put a UGG pic of myself on my first post. First impressions are everything!

This is Louie, he is the boyf. We have been together for a little over 5 years and our whole relationship has been long distance. While I have been living in Columbus he has lived in numerous places including Toledo, Greece, Scotland and currently Washington DC. We have come to the point in our relationship where we feel it's time to move to the next step and live together, so stay tuned on when, where and how THAT all pans out.

Addison and Parker! My niece and nephew. They are the loves of my life and I can't imagine what life was like without them. Addie is 4 and comes up with some pretty sharp one liners. Parks is one and was my birthday gift (we share a bday). I have SO much fun with these two and will be sharing many stories and photos of them, I'm sure. Along with these two are the rest of my fam (brother, sissy, mom and dad) who are my best friends and the funniest people I know!

Last but certainly not least is Elphaba Pearl! Or Elphie for short. She is my baby! She is a handful (like any child) but brings so much joy to my life. Everyone should have a companion like her to come home to!

Well....I'm exhausted, this blogging is harder than it looks! So, untill next time my friends!

xoxo...
