Sweet Tooth

I have a MAJOR sweet tooth this summer so I thought what better way (other than eating a dozen cupcakes) to satisfy those cravings than sharing some of my recent baking endeavors. A lot of my baking is for special occasions, mainly parties revolving around my niece and nephew. I have so much fun making these desserts and it's always nice to see the excitement on the kids faces. I also have to give credit to Louie because often is my partner in crime!

This is the cake I did for Addie's 4th birthday. She had A LOT of ideas for her party but we couldn't quite nail down just one. So, we did a rainbow/animal party. We had a petting zoo and then tied in rainbows with the decorations. This cake was so fun and easy to make. I love the way it turned out. A 6 layer cake with a rainbow of colors when cut was a special surprise for the kids!
I made this fruit tart for a royal wedding party I went to celebrating the nuptials of William and Kate. This is my best interpretation of "Union Jack"!
Cinderella was the center piece for Addie's 3rd birthday party. This cake was pretty large and very interesting to decorate. This was my first big cake project, I was nervous but with the help of my assistant (Louie) I think it turned out pretty cute and Addison couldn't wait to get her hands on the Barbie inside.
I had originally planned on doing a cookie monster cake for Parker's 1st birthday party which was a Milk and Cookie's theme but at the last minute we decided to throw in a little Dr. Seuss with the classic Dr. S hat since Parker and I were both born on Dr. Seuss's birthday. So, instead we did the cookie monster cake for a local cake walk that was also having a competition for most creative cakes. And guess what...Louie and I won! We still need to use our prize, which was a gift card to Graeter's yummm!
There is nothing too creative about this picture but the sheer volume of cupcakes that were made for Paker's "sip and see'' or Cupcake's and Cocktail's party was something worth noting. It was non stop baking, icing, baking icing, tasting, baking, icing until the time the party started. SO much fun and I highly suggest doing this type of party for the new mommies in your life.

This last one is silly but I have to tell you about one of my favorite gadgets. I received The Perfect Brownie Pan for Christmas last year and I L.O.V.E. it. I make brownies a lot because they are my Dad and brother in law's favorite dessert, and this little contraption makes it so easy and truly make the most perfect, thick, cakey, yummy brownies! It's a must try!

There you have it... just some of the baking I've done as of late. I wish I had a picture of Parker's Dr. Seuss hat cake but can't seem to find it. If I come across it I will update. Overall, it's a fun hobby and I always love an excuse to eat something sweet!
